Travilet helps you find and share clean public toilets. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app handles and why. It applies to the Travilet web app and any packaged (app-store) versions of it.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address, provided by you or by Google/Facebook when you sign in. We use them to attribute your contributions and prevent fake listings.
- Your contributions — washrooms you add, confirmations, ratings, reviews, reports, and optional photos you upload.
- Location, at the moment of use only — your device's GPS position is checked when you search nearby, and when you add or confirm a washroom (to verify you are really there). We do not track you in the background and we do not store a history of your movements.
- Basic technical data — such as IP address, used transiently for security and rate-limiting.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data.
- We never send marketing spam.
- We never show your email to other users — only your chosen display name appears next to your contributions.
- We never run background location tracking.
Map data from third parties
To make the map useful everywhere, Travilet also displays public-toilet locations from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors) and, where enabled, Google. These items are marked "MAP DATA" and are fetched by our server; your identity is not shared with those providers by Travilet.
Sign-in providers
If you sign in with Google or Facebook, those providers share your basic profile (name, email) with us under their own terms and privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them.
How long we keep data
Your account and contributions are kept while your account is active. You can delete washrooms you added at any time in the app. To delete your account and associated personal data, contact us (below) and we will action it within 30 days.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to administrative tools is restricted by secret keys, and the service applies rate-limiting and input validation to prevent abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information.
Children
Travilet is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Depending on your country (including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will help.
